Census Reveals New Chapter in the Story of Mixed-Race Britain
Britain runs the same story on a different census. The 2021 count for England and Wales found 1.7 million people identifying as mixed, roughly triple the number since the category first appeared in 2001, with the fastest growth in the White and Asian and Other Mixed groups. The Migration Museum tells it with warmth through an author gathering mixed British family stories, which keeps the numbers attached to actual kitchens and school runs. For our readers it is the transatlantic twin post: two countries, two forms, one boom. A reminder the conversation is global.
